How to take care of a dog

Dog enthusiasts are inclined to extol on the admirable qualities of human's best friends. A dog will not only be most a loyal and affectionate friend that would bring immense joy to the family but would also take on the role of a dependable helper and a reliable defender. Caring for a dog though would be a big responsibility. Getting a puppy is comparable to having a baby in the house. Remember, a dog will entirely depend on its owner for their dietary, health and social needs. A dog would mean an added burden to a family with a tight budget. Moreover, caring for a pet would also take a big chunk of your time. Along with the decision to get a dog is the willingness to provide this wonderful animals with all its essential needs.

To be healthy a dog has to be provided with nutrient rich foods. An owner wanting to scrimp would give the pet inexpensive food but of course it can affect the health of the pet. To ensure proper growth, the pet has to be provided with premium quality food. Dogs are voracious eaters and one serving would not be enough. However, over feeding would result to obesity that can be the cause of some health concerns.

Dogs are noted for their high energies. Thus, a dog's exercise requirements are expected to be high. A dog owner has to make sure that the pet is provided with regular exercise. Daily walks and a trip to a dog park will not only ensure that the exercise requirements are met but also provide the dog with an opportunity to socialize.

Another dog care essential is grooming. Being considered as family members that are constantly cuddled and hugged, a dog has to be clean always. The dog has to be regularly groomed to maintain its good looks. Grooming the dog allows the owner to see any parasite infestation. Veterinary care is an important part of pet care that is often neglected by pet owners. Vet consultations will be additional expenses but they are necessary to ensure the health of the pet.

A well socialized and obedience trained dog will be a well behaved ideal pet. The kind of personality the pet has will reflect on the training and on the care provided by its owners.
