How to silence the neighbor's dog

By Jerry Welsh

Dogs bark and some breeds that are utilized as guard dogs are highly valued for their barking abilities. An excessively barking dog would get on the nerves of people even those considered to be dog lovers. Dogs have many behavioral issues but excessive barking is considered to be the most difficult to modify. A dog owner may be able to put up with the pet's barking but other people will certainly be pestered by the noise. How will you deal with the incessant noise of the neighbor's dog that pre4vents you from having a good night's rest?

Dealing with the maddening noise created by the neighbor's dog is not easy primarily because the dog is not yours. Hurting or killing the dog would not be a good idea as aside from a legal suit you may need to pay the neighbor an amount too steep for comfort. Something has to be done as you also have the right to have a decent night's sleep. Complaining about the noisy dog would never be easy and pleasant as you need to maintain good relationship with the neighbor that will be next door for years.

With a friendly approach you can tell the neighbor that you are bothered by the noise created by the dog. You are complaining about the dog but be sure to stay on friendly terms with the neighbor. You need to complain but it pays to be polite to maintain the good footing you have with the neighbor. Take not of the date and time of your visit as well as times when the dog has become a nuisance. These notes will be important documents if you decide to file a legal case.

If you have the money to spend and you want to avoid an altercation with the neighbor, you can go hi-tech and solve the concern by using an ultra sonic devices. More often than not, dogs that bark excessively are kept outdoors. An ultra sonic barking device can be set up in your own yard and every time the dog barks it will send out a shrill piercing sound that can only be heard by dogs and not by people. The squealing sound would be irritating to the dog thus it would altogether stop barking

A more drastic measure is necessary if the ultrasonic device failed to silence the dog and the neighbor turned a deaf ear to your concern. Just as the neighbor has a legal right to own a dog, you also have a right to a good night's sleep and a peaceful surroundings. You can go to the police and explain the problem or you can pay the local animal control a visit.
